Midsomer Murders is a crime series set in the English countryside with a large number of victims being dispatched using ingenious methods including a falling drinks cabinet , a trebuchet and the usual collection of stabbing implements . ( Shades of Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe ? . ) Over the years many English character actors have appeared , the " props " are original and the series is shot on film . Mix in a little English eccentricity and humour and it's easy to see why it has lasted for so long . Midsomer Murders shows how drama should be done , a lesson which commercial television needs to learn again .
Oh how I wish to see a spanking video made with the same production quality !

The scene has a naked man face down on a bed with the usual black corseted " Dominatrix " and crop ( also black ) shown as DCI Barnaby opens the door .
Another scene has a naked man being chased through the woods with at least one blow from a leafy branch landing on the centre of his bottom . This scene may not be from " Country Matters " , but it is from the series .
