What The H*** Is This ?

• A map of the Internet ( Hint : I stole it from accuracyandaesthetics.com . ) ?
  

I came upon it while trying to explain how I believe FEEDJIT works . ( They provide the visitor Traffic Map and Traffic Feed widgets shown towards the bottom of the right column of this page . )

FEEDJIT is having a " whoops " at present which is stopping anything underneath their widgets loading . ( The right column on this page has now been rearranged to minimise the problem . ) By Googling " FEEDJIT " under Blogs , I found a load of mostly uninformed rubbish ( not unlike that about the present Kate Gosselin media frenzy , which I think has now been replaced by Michael Jackson's untimely death ) .

The complaints about FEEDJIT are that it can stop pages loading properly , which can be fixed as mentioned above . I do not know why any Blog or site would put FEEDJIT high up on a page , particularly in the body of the page .

The second complaint is that the Map sometimes does not show the correct location of visitors . This information comes from the router connecting the visitor to the Internet backbone . Here in Australia , where there are fewer routers , I may be shown anywhere from Launceston to Townsville , a distance of 1337 Nautical Miles; 1539 Statute Miles; 2477 Kilometres and these are airline distances ! The router being used for the visitor's current connection is the one shown and it is a technical matter which router is being used ( routers have " whoopses " too ) . Another blogger living on a hilltop in the middle of nowhere , complains that anyone can see her location . A guess is that there is only one ISP available , or if others , they may share the same router . Maybe a different ( or satellite ) connection ?

On the Internet it is very much " Caveat emptor " , especially when you are not paying for the " information " on most Blogs and sites . Of course the Spankoz Members Area is worth every penny of the $39.95 it costs for three months !
