.Shoot Em Up was released in 2007 . I have seen this scene before , but it appeals for two reasons . The first is I like the " Spank the Spanker " theme . The second is that the mother has lost it , her self control has degenerated into the use of mindless violence . ( See : When to Interfere with a Parent in Public ? . ) The look on the child's face at the end of the clip is priceless !
.
" There’s one scene in the movie which is particularly well formed and provides very important commentary on society and some of the problems which surround us. When Smith and Quintano are in their constant escape from the agents in black suits and pistols which are constantly ready to deliver a hurting, Smith has the great idea to hide Quintano and the child in a tank which is in a museum. In order to provide a distraction so that Quintano can safely and covertly get into this tank, Smith goes up to a mother who is trying to “discipline” her child who is misbehaving (“discipline” in quotes referring to spank). Smith proceeds to go up to the lady and tells her to stop, then starts to “discipline” her and asks how she feels about it. "
