Spanking and Domestic Discipline

Historically , both Judicial and Domestic Corporal Punishments have been on the decline and are now relegated to mostly third world countries ( as has Capital Punishment ) .

It is easy to imagine what must have been going on in the general population at the time . Nowadays , most people have little or no experience of having their bottoms smacked . Spanking tolerances are low and even what may have been regarded as “ mild “ spankings a few years ago can be quite painful now , in part because of this lack of spanking experience ( or should I say practice ) . As “ spanking tolerance " increases through receiving multiple spankings , the effectiveness of spanking ( and other forms of corporal punishment ) as a punishment decreases . I know of many men ( and a few women ) who require a lot of force to be used in a spanking to even approach an effective punishment for them . Ironically , not spanking these spankophiles may be more effective as a punishment .

So much for the physical side of adult spanking ( including the chemistry and effects of having an dopamine and serotonin producing endorphin rush in the brain ) , which is the easiest aspect of adult spanking to understand . In a Domestic Discipline situation , the method of administering a spanking may need to be changed over time .

Personally , I can live with the concept of Domestic Discipline as a dispute settling mechanism within a relationship , given some rough parameters . I think that each of us has to determine their own position in this area . There are many other non spanking forms of punishment used in the general community , even if not normally regarded as being “ punishments “ . There are many ways of signalling displeasure , as anyone who has been married will know .

The main parameter I would have here is the concept of “ egalitarianism “ which means that both partners in a relationship ( especially a spanking one ) have equal rights . These rights may only be varied by consent . ( See the Spencer Spanking Plan . ) No , this does not mean that you can change your mind and jump off a lap half way through a spanking !

Egalitarianism and many “ Doms “ tend not to go together very well . I once asked one ( who was regularly spanking her then partner ) what she would do if he spanked her . “ Not talk to him for a month ! “ was her reply . Many would be happy with this situation , I would not be .

Some spankers are under the unfortunately common misconception that once they have spanked someone , they then have some sort of control ( even mastery ) over that person . For me this is not so . A person is doing you the honour of letting you spank them ( or consenting to spank you ) . There is only ( physical ) dominance whilst the spanking is taking place .
