What makes a spanking video , photograph or story exceptional ? I often think about this question . This was as far as I had got with drafting this posting when I happened to chance upon Richard Windsor's Blog :

" So let’s talk about ‘REAL’ spanking and what it is that constitutes a ‘REAL’ spanking. This particular subject can really grate me from time to time because let’s be honest, WHO can determine what a real spanking is and what it isn’t? It is such a subjective topic that NOBODY can determine what is or isn’t real, it is all personally driven.

Now then, is ‘Real’ spanking the ability to beat a person with as much force as is humanly possible? The harder you hit a person being the determining factor as to how real the spanking is. Despite popular belief and claims made otherwise, of course it isn’t. Anyone can take a cane or a paddle and beat their partner senseless without cause or care to their partner’s well being. There will be a very small minority that this does constitute a real spanking, and to them it is real. That is reality to me and I make no apologies for it, in fact I am so happy with the style I employ that I will be making a whole series of videos featuring such a standard. Does that make my way the right way? Of course it doesn’t!! It is the right way for me and for anyone who I am playing with, I don’t do discipline, I do funishment. It has been that way for me since I was sixteen years old and that will always be ‘REAL’ to me. Under no circumstance does that make my ideas of spanking any less real than anybody else’s idea of what spanking is, because that is what it means to me.

Likewise, as I have mentioned before, if someone’s idea of spanking is to receive 6 love pats to a clothed bottom before having sex, then more power to them. Because that isn’t my idea of a real spanking it doesn’t mean that it isn’t real to those who practice it. Whatever your choice is, whether it be super severe or something very light, nobody has a right to dictate what is and isn’t real to you. If you like discipline where you strap your partner down and whale away with a dragon cane, or if you like a hand spanking where you laugh and giggle your way through the whole scene, it is all very much real if it is what your interpretation is of spanking. This ( " beauty lies in the eye of the beholder " ) aspect is part of what I was going to say here in relation to the " WOW " factor in spanking videos , photographs , etc. .

The second aspect is realism , particularly in videos . There is the old dilemma of " spankers can't act and actors can't spank " . There are exceptions , such as Elvis Presley in " Blue Hawaii " ( " Ms. Maxwell noted that Elvis " really hit hard ! " because they wanted to make sure the scene took on a certain validity or authenticity . " ) . I do dislike anything which is posed or faked . The photograph at the top is one that , for me , has the " X " factor , although I have my suspicions about it being staged for the press .

The third aspect is how we connect with what we see . Sometimes it may only be a hint of spanking and other times most obvious . We humans are fickle in love , spanking , etc. , so the ethereal " WOW " factor can change from moment to moment .
